my EQ

For most people, emotional intelligence (EQ) is more important than one’s intelligence (IQ) in attaining success in their lives and careers. As individuals our success and the success of the profession today depend on our ability to read other people’s signals and react appropriately to them.
Therefore, each one of us must develop the mature emotional intelligence skills required to better understand, empathize and negotiate with other people — particularly as the economy has become more global. Otherwise, success will elude us in our lives and careers.
Understanding of Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
Ø  Self-awareness. The ability to recognize an emotion as it “happens” is the key to your EQ.
Ø  Motivation. To motivate yourself for any achievement requires clear goals and a positive
Ø  Empathy. The ability to recognize how people feel is important to success in your life and career.
Ø  Social skills. The development of good interpersonal skills is tantamount to success in your life and career.
I have slightly above average of EQ. I am likely sensitive to the emotional climate of the people around me are under pressure. I can aware of the effect my behavior has on others.  Don’t be afraid to honestly communicate these difficult needs and feelings.  This is one of the mist important aspects of Emotional Intelligence.
·         Things to consider for myself:
·         What situations generally create pressure and stress for me?
·         How am I handling these situations?
·         What negative thoughts play over and over in my mind on a regular basis?
·         Are these a true picture of reality?
·         When I triggered emotionally, what are some of your less effective default behaviors?
If I can learn to be more aware of when emotions are driving my behavior and stay calm in my high pressure moments, I will see a big increase in my Emotional Intelligence, which will lead to increased performance and more effective relationships – at work and at home!
